Miguel and I adopted Emma from the Humane Society here in Savannah. When we took her home in August of last year she had already been through three different homes and families in her four short months of life. Emma is such a delightful, sweet dog. I am so thankful for her companionship. It's hard to picture my new life here without her being in it. I thank God for bringing her to our little family... it was through the Humane Society that all this was made possible. It makes me so sad to think of all the other sweet animals that don't have loving homes, or even homes at all. So when I received an e-mail about a fundraiser walk for the Humane Society I started considering participating in it.

Each year, the Humane Society for Greater Savannah receives thousands of homeless, unwanted animals, as well as beloved animals whose owners are no longer able to care for them. The Humane Society's mission is to lead our community in the compassionate treatment of animals, to address the cause of animal suffering and overpopulation, to educate and encourage people to take responsibility for their animal companions and to provide care for animals in need.
So I've decided to participate in the walk and raise money for the shelter. The event is called Dog Lover's Walk. This event is a dog walk aimed at raising awareness and funds for our community's homeless animals. Proceeds from pledges help the humane society care for the 3,000 animals entrusted each year to the shelter. There isn't a minimum amount of money I need to raise or anything like that. But I would really appreciate support. I want more people to be able to bring home precious, helpless animals like Emma.
The walk is February 19th at the Landings. If you're local, we'd love for you to come participate with us! Bring your dog or just walk with Emma and me. There is also going to be fun activities such as agility/obedience training demonstration (you can participate with your dog), microchipping, nail clippings, pet portraits, and refreshments.
