Things I'm Obsessed with Right this Second

The Library at The Tea Room

If you have come to Savannah to visit me, chances are I've taken you to eat at The Tea Room. The restaurant is styled after Art Nouveau tea rooms designed by The Glasgow School in the early twentieth century.

I like to sit in the Library. This is especially nice on colder days (even though we don't get too many of them here).

Each table gets a pot of tea or a glass of sweet tea. I'm sure their sweet tea is great, but since I'm not a fan of sweet tea (gasp! I know! That's not very southern of me), I always stick to their delicious hot tea.

The meal starts with soup du jour. I've had their cream of spinach, cream of mushroom, and my favorite, vidallia onion. They are all to die for.  The soup is followed by your entrĂ©e. I always get the chicken salad! And at the end of your meal each guest gets a plate of treats and fresh fruit.

I adore The Tea Room.  It's definitely a place to take the ladies. And for an added treat, it's located on one of my favorite window shopping streets, Broughton.

Besides the food being incredibly yummy, the loose tea is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!! I particularly enjoy the Emperor's Bride. This Finnish tea has a base of Assam and Ceylon teas. Pineapple chunks and dried orange peel are added and it is enhanced with thistle petals and essence of quince and elder.  It's great! I'm actually sipping on some right now!

Savannah Bee Company
What makes this tea even better is another of my favorite things. Tea Honey from The Savannah Bee Company. I love the natural sweet taste the honey adds to my tea. The Savannah Bee Company is also a really neat place. If you ever visit Savannah you should stop by there and check it out. It's also located on Broughton so it makes picking up my tea and honey in one trip easy! The Bee Company has been written up in Southern Living and other notable publications. They have tea samplings out on the counter for you to try and make honey-based skin products. My favorite thing to try when I stop there is the honeycomb with an apple slice and a little bite of cheese. It's yummy!

I've been eating gluten and dairy free the past couple of weeks. This has been very, very hard. Especially the giving up dairy part! I love all things dairy, particularly cheese. I've been able to cope a little by eating goat cheese (I am only avoiding cow's milk). Also, I'm very thankful to my friend Sarah K. for telling my about a rice bread brand called Udi's. This bread has been a lifesaver to me. It is the most 'natural' tasting gluten free breads I've tried. It helps to toast it. So, add Udi's bread to my list of things I'm obsessed with.

People say that the sense of smell is the strongest sense to trigger memories. Currently, I am having flashbacks to when I worked at Fab'rik and also at Canvas Systems/Optimus Solutions. This is because of the candle I have lit in my living room at the moment. We used to light a Votivo, Red Currant candle every day at Fab'rik and then I took some to work with me at Canvas/Optimus. I adore the smell! They're kind of expensive for a candle, at $25 each, but they last a long time and really fill the room with a lovely scent that at the same time doesn't over power a room.

Okie Dokie. That's all for now. I'm headed off to take Emma to the park and then later on this afternoon she has an appointment at the v. e. t. (have to spell it so she doesn't understand) ;) Blog post to come soon about how that goes! Tootles!
