120 lb Rottweiler

Emma has been sick today. She wasn't feeling well to her tummy and was really struggling with her potty breaks. That's when I noticed she was bleeding... a lot. I immediately scheduled an appointment at the vet. Emma remembered her last time there and tried very hard to show me the door to leave. The vet tech came in and took her away to take a stool sample. The door shut behind them and next thing I knew I heard loud bangs, scratches of puppy nails on metal, and whining. After a few minutes of a loud struggle from behind the closed door, the vet tech and Emma reappeared. Emma made a mad dash for my legs.  The vet tech said once she tried to get the stool sample Emma turned from a 28 pound puppy to a 120 pound rottweiler! Emma did NOT like her messing around down there. Would you?

Emma stared at the door to leave the whole time, occasionally looking back at me to let me know that was the exit.

Next the vet came in and talked to me about her symptoms. They gave her a shot (which she also put up a mad struggle during) and tested her for parasites and other illnesses. The good news is that her tests came back A-OK. The vet thinks the bleeding is just secondary to her having diarrhea. We have two antibiotics to give her over the next couple of days and she should start to do better.

I am soooo thankful it wasn't something too serious. It was very startling to see Emma cause that much blood. It was also really hard seeing Emma struggle at the vet for the first time. Ah, it just breaks my heart. I wish she could understand that we were only allowing these things to happen to her in order for them to get fixed.
