Um... Hello December? Anyone there?

Okay. Just have to say.... At the beginning of the week I was absolutely FREEZING! I don't understand how people live in the north! They must be some strong, tough people!

Sooo that was Monday. Savannah must have decided that it didn't like the cold weather either because today, December 17th, it is 70°. Loves it, except it makes dressing in the winter a little strange.

Yes, yes. I know I shouldn't have taken this picture while driving.

This week has rocked because we had two sets of house guests come visit! First, my best friend, Sarah W., and a new friend, Katie H., came to visit for lunch and ended up staying the night! Yay!

Katie and Sarah at the park with Emma-do in the back. They were
troopers standing out in the cold with Emma and me! Thanks guys!
Glad Katie liked Emma because Emma decided Katie was her new
best friend.
Then last night Miguel's roommate from when he co-oped, Tim, was in Savannah looking for a place to live when he moves here next month. He and his girlfriend, Elizabeth, stayed with us. Love them!

Elizabeth and Tim =)
Fun week! Love having people come visit and love warm weather! Can't wait till the up coming weeks and all the holiday fun! =)

Happy Birthday to my Wonderful Mom!!!!!

Dear Mom, I said a prayer for you
to thank the Lord above
For blessing me with a lifetime
of your tenderhearted love.

I thanked God for the caring
you've shown me through the years,
For the closeness we've enjoyed
in time of laughter and of tears.

And so, I thank you from the heart
for all you've done for me
And I bless the Lord for giving me
the best mother there could be

My mother's heart is so tender
and her face has a gentle glow
She's my friend and my inspiration,
she's the sweetest mom I know.

She gives herself so freely
to those who share her life
She clearly loves her children
with the love that comes from Christ

Her eyes are full of compassion
her voice is soft and mild
She lives for helping others,
leaving "heartprints" all the while.

My mother's love is special
and grows sweeter with every year
God blessed me with an angel;
she's my precious mother, dear.

Happy birthday mom! I love you very much and thank God he blessed me with YOU! Wish I was there to give you a birthday hug!!!

The Grass is Greener

A couple of days ago I updated my facebook status with a list of things I think need to open in Savannah. To my surprise I got a lot of comments with additional places to add to the list. For a moment it made me think of home and I became nostalgic for Atlanta. Since then I've started thinking about the pro's and con's between living in Atlanta and Savannah. Here's what I've come up with:

Savannah
The "con's"

1) Starting off with my original facebook list... Savannah needs to open the following stores:

    1. Hobby Lobby. I can spend hours in this store. What other store do you know of where every week half the store is 50% off?!? It's like Target. I always buy more than I went in there to get.
    2. Chipotle - yummmmmm! I love Chipolte because it's organic and I prefer the way their meats taste to Moe's (which is the only option here). I like their lettuce and sour cream better than Moe's too!
    3. Anthropologie - shipping is expensive and their clothes are never true to size!
    4. Whole foods - Savannah only has one Fresh Market.
    5. Pottery Barn - The closest one is in Charleston.
    6. Sephora
    7. H&M
2) The pace in Savannah is sooooooooooooooo slowwwww. No one is EVER in a hurry to get anywhere. I think it's great in the summer... when you are at the beach. But driving around with this every time you leave the house is not cool

AHHHHH! Road rage! First, the left lane is for PASSING or GOING FAST!
This happens all the time.  People in both lanes drive the same speed.

3) Savannah is all about who you know - especially when trying to find a job. Bla. People here are real tight knit. They grew up here and come back here after college and never leave again. In some ways that's really cool. But it makes it hard to 'break into' the social networks here.

4) I miss listening to The Bert Show on my long drives to school every morning!!! Here there is only one talk radio show in the morning and it is VERY offensive to women.

5) I miss my family and friends.

The "pro's"

1) Savannah has some REALLY cool stores. I love the unique places here! I can spend hours wondering around looking at the things here.

2) It's BEAUTIFUL here!!!

3) I love the attitude of the locals. Everyone is really friendly. It feels very "southern" and I really like that. People don't cut you off in traffic or act all snooty (generally). There feels like there is less of "keeping up with the Jones" here.

4) NO Atlanta traffic... I laugh when people complain about "rush hour" here!

5) The people we've met here and the church we've been visiting! Thank God for the sweet people who have reached out to us here!

6) THE BEACH!!! We went to the beach in November and it was warm enough to be in bathing suits and get in the water!

Anyways... I'm sure there is more that I am forgetting. But I'm getting distracted now and so am going to wrap this up.

I am really loving Savannah, but will probably always call Atlanta home. I'm looking forward to going home for Christmas but I also want everyone to come visit me here so I can show off the cool place I live!
