Framing Memories

I meant to blog about this a long time ago but for some reason never got around to it. But in honor of our first anniversary, I decided now was a good time to get around to it. Right after the wedding my mom took my beautiful bridal bouquet to a specialist to have it dried and framed. It took a long time to have it finished. I got the finished product at Christmas time. I love how it turned out! I'm surprised how much color stayed once the flowers dried. We also got to choose the backing and the frame itself. We went for a rustic, shabby feel which mimicked our wedding.  Also framed is a handkerchief of my gramma's which I carried with my bouquet the day of. Again, I love how it turned out.

This was the before:

And here is the after! Love it!

In addition to my beautiful framed bouquet my parents also had our wedding invitation framed. I love it! We keep in in our bedroom next to a photograph of us on our wedding day.

Thanks mom and dad for framing these items and helping preserve our precious memories!

To Have and To Hold: May 16th, 2010

A year ago yesterday Miguel and I got married! We celebrated our first anniversary last night and it was wonderful! In some ways I can't believe how fast this year flew by, and in other ways it seems like one of the longest years of my life. This year has brought many challenges for me: struggling with all the change (graduating, moving to a new city, being married, job search, etc) and learning how to be married. Marriage has been rewarding, but it is also a lot of hard work and a lot about learning how to put others first. I no longer can be selfish in all my decisions. Each decision affects another person now. So marriage has brought on life style changes as well. However, having the person you love most dearly in the world right by your side every morning and every night is irreplaceable. I love my husband and am so thankful to have married him last May 16th! It has been really fun looking back on wedding pictures and remembering our perfect day. Here are some for you to enjoy as well!

Our wedding venue was so beautiful!
Handsome Hubs!

A special shout out to my sister and brother-in-law for their beautiful wedding photography!

Left My Footprints In the Sand: Hilton Head Island

Disney World, Florence, and Hilton Head Island: my happy places. I LOVE Hilton Head! My family vacationed there every summer when I was growing up. It will always hold a special place in my heart. My parents invited Miguel and me up for this past weekend to celebrate our joint anniversaries. It's so nice living only an hour away from HH! And it was nice to be able to bring the dogs with us. We had such a fun weekend.

I really enjoyed the house we stayed in this time. It was a short walk to Harbor Town and right on the marsh. Miguel and I stayed in the guest house which had a neat loft. I also loved the exposed beams in the family room.

It was so nice to have a courtyard where we could just let the dogs out and not worry about them running away!

Miguel and I drove up on Friday afternoon. So once we got settled in and unpacked, the family headed to dinner. We went to Crazy Crab in Harbor Town. Yummy! I know we live right by the ocean here on Wilmington Island but it was nice to eat fresh seafood on 'vacation'.

One of the wonderful things about HH is the dog friendly beaches. My parents, Miguel and I took the three puppies to the beach Saturday morning. We had the dogs off the leash for a while but quickly had to re-leash them once we were told that dogs were only allowed off the leash before 10 am or after 5 pm. The dogs had so much fun running around and playing with each other and playing in the water.

For dinner Saturday night we went to a HH must, The Salty Dog. I got a t-shirt, a hat, and of course, a bandanna for Emma!

Sunday morning breakfast was really fun. We went and had brunch at the Yacht Club. Our view was so pretty and the weather was perfect. We ate over looking the harbor. It was so fun because a dolphin was hunting in the harbor and made lots of circles around the boats. It was so pretty!

Eating breakfast. My grandfather, dad, mom, and Miguel.

After brunch Miguel and I spent the afternoon playing tennis and hanging out at the pool. Then Miguel went on a longgg run, the family lounged around, and I took pictures of the dogs.

My mom's dog, Luke, doesn't like change much and has been a little insecure being away from home. So he has been glued to my mom for reassurance. Makes lounging around a little more difficult.

Sunday afternoon Miguel cooked ribs and burgers for our family. While those were cooking my parents and I went to feed the horses some carrots.

YUM! Sweet potato fries, ribs, burgers, corn, salad, potato salad, watermelon, and beans! Thanks for cooking, bb!

We had SUCH a fun weekend! Thanks mom and dad for letting us come visit! AND happy 1st anniversary to my hubby and happy 30th anniversary to my parents! Love you all!
