16 Friends Biking, Cheers!

Last night Miguel and I met up with a group of our friends to participate in a fun adventure. Savannah Slow Ride is a 16 person 'bike' that is an eco-friendly way to tour  Savannah. We however, didn't tour per-say. =) They advertise, "We don't offer any history lessons on this ride, just all the shenanigans you can pack into a slooooooooowww ride"... which we completely took them up on. One of the great things about this city is the open container laws. We can walk around, or in the case bike around, with our drinks. We started the three hour tour off at a The Crystal Beer Parlor and then made a number of stops at different pubs and bars.

Here is a video so you can sort of get an idea of how the whole thing operates:

It started off pretty fun. However, the sun was still out and the biking was pretty tough at first. Luckily, I got to sit in one of the seats that didn't have pedals. We all switched out of course, but honestly, if you were on the side with Miguel and Kyle you didn't have to do much work at all. They worked so hard. Which didn't surprise me at all, because if you know Miguel you know that he makes everything into a challenge.  I was kinda embarressed at first because all these people around town were waving at us and taking pictures. Some of us loved the attention though =) I mean I guess it does look pretty strange to basically see a table being biked around. We danced to the music and laughed a lot. It was so much fun to see friends, especially some I hadn't seen in a while. The girls and I decided that we definitely have to have a girls night out soon! We also got to meet some new friends. Both John and Jason had their families there. Loved them!

Love Brandie!

We're so lucky to have such handsome hubbys!

The Boys: Caught Brandon mid hair toss =)
Lauren, John, and John's parents

The boys cracked me up at the end. All these engineers together just couldn't help themselves and had to try to figure out how everything worked on the bike. =)

We had so much fun! Loads of thanks to Jason for taking us with his groupon deal!

The whole group, minus Jason's mom

If you want to check out Savannah Slow Ride go to their website! They do lots of birthdays and bachelorette type parties!

Weekend Visit to Bob-Bob's!

Over the fourth of July weekend Miguel and I drove down to Jupiter, Florida to visit my grandpa, Bob-bob. It was so wonderful to spend time with Bob-bob. His health is doing really poorly. My family planned this trip with the knowledge that this is probably the last time we will all be together as a family. It is still hard for me to stomach. I know I will always cherish the memories we made over the weekend.

My sister and brother-in-law flew in Saturday morning and Miguel and I timed our arrival so that we could pick them up from the airport. The four of us then headed to Bob-bob's... after a brief stop to get some Chick-fil-a for Sarah, since they don't have them where they live in Seattle. After spending a brief visit with Bob-bob he needed to go rest. Sarah and Jared also needed sleep because they didn't get any on their red eye flight from Seattle. So we all spent the afternoon catching up on sleep. When we woke up a couple of hours later Bob-bob was still sleeping. The four of us headed down the street to go to the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. The Loggerhead is a local rescue for sea turtles. The admission is free and it's something I always enjoyed doing any time I'd go visit my grandpa in the past. It was Jared and Miguel's first time visiting. We spent some time in the museum, but most of our time we spent out near the tanks where the turtles were. They had a couple of large sea turtles with various health problems ranging from a fin missing to iron deficiency. It's always fun to see the turtles, especially the TINY baby ones! Some how I didn't get a picture of those little guys though. We goofed off some and had a good time.

After we left the sea turtles the four of us decided we wanted to go to the beach. Sarah and Jared don't get to see the ocean all that often so I'm glad we went. We didn't spend too much time there. We just took off our shoes and walked in the sand and stuck our feet in the water. The weather was a little too hot. It would have been nice if we had been in bathing suits with the option of cooling off in the water though.

For dinner Bob-bob took us to one of his favorite local spots. Dinner was fun. I really enjoy spending time with family and laughing. After dinner the five of us headed to the jetty to watch the boats come in. They have to drive really fast to get in and out because of the strong water. The Jupiter lighthouse is also right there. It's pretty views and we took some pictures.

Way to sneak in there, Miguel.

After dinner my grandpa need to rest so Sarah, Jared, Miguel and I played a game called Bananagrams. I had never played it before. Basically it's a word game where you form a crossword-like object using tiled letters. It was a lot of fun... except I attempted to use the word "freezed"... oops! It had been a really long day, okay ;) After a few rounds of the game, we got bored and the boys and I started to make a domino string with the tiles. Sarah played Angry Birds. =)

"freezed"

My parents flew in late Saturday night after we had already gone to bed. Sunday morning the whole family drove up to the next town to go to brunch at the Seminole Inn. It dates back to the 1920's and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor visited in the past. The Duchess, Wallis Simpson's, family owned the inn. The history was really neat to me. The upstairs halls of the inn has murals documenting the Seminole Indians and their chiefs throughout the years. Brunch was very enjoyable. I especially liked the live music and relaxing on the porch.

My parents headed home Sunday afternoon and the four of us kids got up bright and early to head home Monday morning. It was indescribably hard to say good by to Bob-bob. Literally heart crushing. Again, I am so thankful for the time we got to spend together. I know I will always look back on this weekend with fond memories for the rest of my life!

Emma and Uga

My parents have a ceramic Uga in their basement. I've blogged about him before. Emma doesn't like Uga. We think she got this from Miguel's side of the family. ;) Tonight she re-discovered him and Miguel captured the two of them 'playing' on camera. Luke was hanging around too.

Deck the Halls: Favorites

It's past 12am Friday night (wayyy past Emma's normal bedtime) so she tucked herself into bed. But Miguel and I are still up.  Thought now would be a good time to blog. So here are some of my favorite Far Side comics and videos about Christmas! Enjoy!

Have to share some holiday videos for animal lovers. You'll have to turn off the music that plays on the blog... it's at the VERY bottom of the page. The first video will be most appreciated by cat owners. Cracked me up.

I know there are lots of video's like this out there... but this one is actually really cute. Catches so many personalities!

ONE WEEK TILL CHRISTMAS!
