Last night Miguel and I took Emma to a soccer field near by. It's really frustrating that there aren't many dog-friendly places in Savannah. We drove to other parks first where we were greeted with "No Dogs Allowed" signs. This morning I looked up the ONE Savannah dog park and read you have to be a member and pay to use it! Really missing Atlanta for Emma.
We got a good 45 minutes at the soccer field before someone drove up and asked us to leave. Apparently the unfenced, sign-less community field was closed? So we packed up all our stuff and went home.
However, the time we did spend there was great! The field was large and far enough away from roads that we felt safe letting Emma off her leash to play fetch and to run around freely. Emma got really good at retrieving! She loves catching the tennis ball and frisbee. The frisbee has been more of a challenge when actually trying to pick it up and return it to the thrower, but she tries. It's so cute to watch her puppy pounce on the ball and frisbee once she catches up to them. It's probably a bit silly how much we praise her when she got the ball or frisbee. We can't help it though! We're so proud of her! She already comes when called and can be trusted in safe areas to be let off her leash (although I also read this morning that it is the law in Savannah to keep dogs on their leashes in public). Emma loves running around and chasing Miguel. Miguel is a little faster than Emma right now, but she does really well keeping up with him!
Trying to take pictures was confusing for her because she wanted to come to the cameraman and to the ball or frisbee. But here is a video of her right before we left. She was pretty exhausted at this point and we're all also soaked from the rain.
move to Seattle and you can take her EVERYWHERE with you!! she's so adorable :)
